Snowfall hitting most companies hard
With the worst snowfall we have had in many many years, it is no question that some companies have been hard hit financially.
With limited access to Motorways and even the smaller A roads, getting to work has been nothing but a nightmare. With the large amount of absences, mostly from last week, companies have found themselves struggling in what is still a difficult time.
Only time will tell if companies have fully managed to survive, but lets hope the damage is only small with people finding their way back to work much easier from the start of this week.
Google pulls out of China
After many up hill struggles with Google and the Chinese Government, Google has decided to pull out of China entirely.
After being made to censor Google results to allow them to stay in the Chinese market, Google decided to pull out. But after recent reports of gmail accounts being hacked into and emails read, the decision to censor Google.cn has been removed and has resulted in Google pulling out of China.
Although Google are still operating their search engine, it is fully uncensored and will most likely quickly gain attention from the Chinese government asking them to remove the service entirely.
The recession and economy will take longer to heal than previously anticipated
It was recently mentioned that the recession will take a little longer to heal than anticipated. Many/Most people in the UK and world were hoping to have the recession totally gone and the economy to be complete and better than it was however unfortunately this is not going to happen and it’s going to take longer.
One major reason for this is that there are groups and people out there who are hoping the recession remains for a very long time because they are using it to their advantage and making a fortune from it (through illegal means, of course).
Is it worth taking out many different items that require monthly payments?
Is it worth taking out many different items that require monthly payments?
I mean having 2-3 mobile phone contracts, a flat you have to pay rent on and a car you have leased which requires you to pay out monthly?
There are many more things people have that requires monthly attention and as a piece of advice, you should not overdo it and then end up forking out more than 60% of your money for over 12 months. This could potentially leave you with a lot of trouble and if for instance, your main source of income is no more, then it would be difficult to manage.
Is the recession improving?
Is the recession improving or becoming worse and deteriorating? This is the big question many, many people and businesses ask.
Many people are hoping for the economy to get better so they can also move on. I say many because there are those people whom the recession hasn’t affected and those who use it for crime to their advantage and harm the economy even further.
But it seems like the economy is improving, slowly but surely.
So now is a good time to prepare your finances.
What is your opinion on the economy in the last year?
Was it dealt with in a good way?
Cash or Plastic
In a technological age where nearly every shop, restaurant or business will now accept some form of EFT payment, the question to ask is what do you prefer ?
Are you the sort of person who feels more in control of their finances through a mixture of direct debits, online banking and credit/debit card payments ?
Or would you say cash is king ?
If you look at your week and interaction with payments you will see how life is less about cash and more about paperless spend.
You go to the gym in the morning, and the standing order comes out of the bank monthly – with no option to pay per visit. You then set off in the car for the petrol station and you can now pay at the pump using your card, speeding up the visit. Off you go to work, stopping at the fast-food drive-thru window, again paying by card. You work in a business where all transactions with clients are electronic and no cash payments. In the evening you go to the cinema, and watch a film on your unlimited cinema pass, which again is a standing order. But wait, how do you pay for refreshments ?
Finally we find a situation for the use of cash, but we have demonstrated how much it is being eliminated from our daily routine.
So just how long before we ask, our future generations ask, what was it like to have money in your hand ??
Tvs on Finance
If you are thinking of getting a TV and you don’t have the money right away to pay up for it all, you can always look at getting Finance for it, there are many places you could have a look and many different deals at each place.
People say that if you get refused at a place don’t go somewhere else for 6 months, but to be quite honest this is a load of rubbish, I went to Curry’s for a TV and bareing in mind I have quite a bad credit rating I thought I would try it, I got refused by them and advised not to try again for another 6months as usual.
I went to Tesco’s 5mins later across the road and got accepted by them and now have a TV bigger than I originally wanted yet cheaper, plus their finance deals are second to none, in the financial climate we are in I actually felt like I was ripping THEM off!

Finance In Football
Finance in football is an interesting topic that has many facets to it; there is general management of the finances as well as the PR and marketing of the football club to generate income.
The most important aspect of any football club is the balancing of the books; unfortunately this is something that is not always on the agenda of the runners of many football league clubs who on occasions do not live within their means. This is the downfall of a few clubs such as Stockport County, Darlington, Southampton, Leeds United etc who have all experienced administration as a result of their lack of financial management.
The most IMPORTANT thing for a football club is to live within their means, otherwise they will come up short when it comes to paying bills, a lot of clubs simply get to ambitious without a realistic business plan, caution is always the best plan.
The marketing and PR strategy of a football club is also key to the survival and progression of the financial situation. For example corporate hospitality and advertising can play a key role in the income that can be generated, this is something that needs to be exploited to the full.
